Where did it all begin for you with music?
Music for me began when I was at a young age. I was always performing and singing my heart out. I was classically trained until Grade 7 whilst at secondary school, as well as being a part of a dance school which gave me a lot of experience on stage. But it was when I turned 17 that I picked up the guitar. I was fronting multiple bands and that’s when I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music.

How long has it been since you started creating your own music?
I have only been writing my own music shy of a year. So I’m still very new to it.

Do any artists or bands influence you?
A lot of artist and band influence me! There’s far too many to name as I grew up with such a versatile range of music. But if I had to name two that are a huge influence to me currently, I’d have to say H.E.R & Lianne La Havas.

In three words, how would you describe your music?
Relatable. Tasteful. Alt-R&B.

What’s your creative process?
I’m still trying to figure that one out myself. So far the lyrics, vocal melody and basic chord structure comes hand in hand at the same time, but rooted from a phrase or line that I’d write down in my notes.

Do you need to be in a certain mood to be able to create your music?
Two weeks ago I would have said yes to this because, so far, my songs were written when I was inspired and ‘in the zone’. But recently I set myself a challenge to sit down and write a song on demand and it worked perfectly fine. Although I do believe it helps so much more when you are in a creative and expressive mood.

Do you write all of your songs?
Yeah, I do initially and then I work with a friend closely on the production and further writing on my songs. I also co-write.

Where does your inspiration come from when it comes to your lyrics? Are they from personal experiences?
Definitely from personal experiences. Whether that means something that happened a few years back or last week. I feel like it’s more a reflective process on how I felt at a time. I’m still yet to write a song on a current situation.

Do you play the instruments in your recordings?
On the majority of songs, I have recorded already, no. but I do hope to on future ones.

Besides singing and performing, do you do other things regarding music?
I go to gigs quite regularly. I’m apart of Sofar Sounds Community which is amazing. I listen to music all the time and obviously, I’m very creative so a lot of the behind scenes activities. I try to get involved in anything that I can.

If you could perform with anyone, who would it be?
This is another hard one… I have always said that I would love to sing with Gregory Porter. He is just insane.

Where would you like to see yourself in three years?
Three years time, I’d love to be a high profile emerging artist.

Can we expect an EP or an album from you in the future?
You can indeed! Not giving too much away but it’s definitely coming!

Is there a theme or a concept of it that we would see?
Ahh!!! With that one, you’re gonna have to wait and see.

Are there any collaborations with any artists or producers?
It’s all in the working process for sure! As soon as it’s ready I’ll share it with you all.
